about
Much like its predecessor, “Counting Sheep,” “Terminal” has been in the Twin Chameleon catalog since my college days. After roughly five years of playing it live, I’m excited to finally release a recording into the world so people stop singing incorrect lyrics to me (there is mainly one offender).
Originally a song I lyrically felt was not *my style* (I don’t go to clubs, and I certainly do not have the moves to seduce a stranger on the dancefloor), I’ve come to love “Terminal’s” lyrics for their ambiguity. While people tend to side with the person singing the song, I’ve always felt that “Terminal” may have an unreliable narrator. And while I typically refuse to go into detail about the true meaning or interpretation of my lyrics, in this case, I don’t even know the truth. I still wonder who is really at fault in this dramatic breakup song—and now, finally, you can too.
Musically, however, I have always felt this song slaps. So you could just ignore the lyrics altogether and dance. Bonus points if you air guitar the double guitar solo with a friend.
lyrics
You won’t have to worry anymore, darling
You won't have to say you lost the feeling
Cuz the sun’s coming up over the terminal now
You were surprised
I could recognize that look in your eyes
Did you think I would forget it over time?
That emerald green amphetamine
The last time you used it on me
We were
Holding hips on the dance floor
‘Till you asked me for more
Locking lips in the taxi
Throwing clothes on your floor
I knew what you were up to
When you walked ‘round the room
You were searching for somebody new
And you said
"Come on baby
Don't be crazy
You've just had a drink or two
I swear everything is fine
Let's just have a good time
Jealousy looks bad on you"
You were surprised
I could recognize that look in your eyes
Though I've never seen it aimed at other guys
I always said you looked so good in red
And I noticed you took my advice
you were
Turning heads as you walked up
and leaned over the bar
Always fixing your makeup
You never cared much before
I knew what you were up to
When you walked round the room
You were searching for somebody new
And you said
"Come on baby
Don't be crazy
You've just had a drink or two
I swear everything is fine
Let's just have a good time
Jealousy looks bad on you"
What am I supposed to think
You didn't buy that drink
If you wanna be wild fine
But I won't just stand by when
You're dancing without me
Trying to hide something
and baby it's not hard to see
But you won’t have to worry anymore darling
You won't have to say you lost the feeling
Cuz the sun’s coming up over the terminal now
And I'm leaving
"Come on baby
Don't be crazy
You've just had a drink or two
I swear everything is fine
Let's just have a good time
Jealousy looks bad on you"
What am I supposed to think
You didn't buy that drink
If you wanna be wild fine
But I won't just stand by when
You're dancing without me
Trying to hide something
and baby it's not hard to see
